MH girls win, boys finish 3rd in Junior Tyson Relays

Mountain Home was among the schools that sent their junior high track teams to Green Forest on Tuesday for the Junior Tyson Relays.

The Junior Lady Bombers won the girls’ team title. Bergman finished seventh, Cotter was eighth, Marshall ended up ninth, Flippin and Yellville-Summit were tied for 11th place, Ozark Mountain took 13th place, and Lead Hill and Omaha finished in a tie for 14th place.

Individually for Mountain Home, Makenzie Kotlowski won the shot put, Jayden Jones won the discus throw, MaKenna Miller won the pole vault, Brook Bertalotto won the 1600-meter run, Ella Hampton won the 200-meter dash, Eliana Pepin won the high jump and was second in the triple jump, Audrey Birkhimer ended up second in the high jump, Joslin Haney took third place in the discus, Ashley Smith finished third in the 800-meter run, and Mayce Carlson was third in the 200-meter dash. In addition, the team of Pepin, Carlson, Shayn Whickersham and Miller won the 4×100-meter relay; Addison McCarn, Whickersham, Callie Kohler and Jocelyn Green won the 4×400-meter relay; and Green, Landry Litty, Audrey Hughes and Maci Adkins ended up second in the 4×200-meter relay.

Among other area athletes, Marshall’s Miriam Beckwith won the 400-meter dash, Kyna See of Bergman won the 800-meter run, Cotter’s Addison Wilhite took second place in the 1600-meter run, Kenzye Lowry of Bergman finished second in the long jump, and Cotter’s Lily McNutt was third in the high jump. Khloe Gates, Krislynn Morrow, EmmiJoy Stewart and Emry Devore ended up third in the 4×400-meter relay.

Mountain Home took third place in the boys’ team standings. Omaha finished fourth, Yellville-Summit was eighth, Flippin ended up 10th, Marshall took 11th place, Ozark Mountain finished 12th, Cotter was 13th, and Lead Hill ended up 15th. The team victory went to Elkins.

For the Junior Bombers, Simeon Costner won the 1600-meter run and took second place in the 800-meter run, Garret Watts won the long jump and finished second in the 100-meter dash, Chris Leaming was second in the discus, and Ryan Cooper ended up third in the 1600-meter run. The team of Watts, Jeremiah Partee, Kobe Dotson and Mason Reppond took second place in the 4×100-meter relay; Wyatt Sanders, Brantley Gale, Saxton Bodenhamer and Kyler Caprisecca finished third in the 4×200-meter relay; and Skylar Moore, Alex Chafin, Tyson Kemp and Hunter Ford were third in the 4×800-meter relay.

Among other individual performances, Beckett Chatelain of Flippin won the 400-meter dash and ended up third in the long jump, Omaha’s Tyler Liggett won the triple jump and the 800-meter run and took second place in the long jump and third in the 100-meter dash, Dawson Yeager of Omaha won the high jump, Yellville-Summit’s Satch Cheek finished in the 300-meter hurdles, Donnie Flud of Ozark Mountain was second in the shot put, and Marshall’s Lee Gray ended up third in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run. Jamie Hill, Ryder Larson, Ben Badgett and Blake McAlister of Omaha won the 4×800-meter relay; and Omaha’s Hill, Larson, Badgett and Luke Huffman took third place in the 4×400-meter relay.
