UPDATE: Jacksonville police investigate homicide following domestic dispute

Police are investigating a homicide after a domestic dispute led to the death of a woman Tuesday.

The Jacksonville Police Department said officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Franklin Street around 1:17 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the woman, later identified as 36-year-old Tonja Roper, injured from a stabbing. Roper later died from her injuries.

Jacksonville police state that 38-year-old Kenneth Parker was arrested in connection with the incident. He faces charges of capital murder, first-degree terroristic threatening, aggravated assault on a family or household member, intimidating a witness, two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
