
The Mountain Home High School track teams had another successful day on Thursday. Both Bomber teams went to Pocahontas and won the PECO Relays.
On the girls’ side, Yellville-Summit finished sixth, Dora was seventh, Melbourne ended up eighth, and Salem took 16th place.
Individually for Mountain Home, Bailey Ritenburg won the 800-meter run, Cisily Goettler won the 1600-meter run, Lucy Koehn won the 3200-meter run, Camilla Johnson won the 300-meter hurdles, Kori Scroggins won the discus throw and finished second in the shot put, Jada Johnson won the 200-meter dash and was second in the 100-meter dash, Jamie Chandler ended up second in the 1600-meter run, Erin Smith took second place in the 3200-meter run, and Brooklynn Mitchell finished third in the 200-meter dash. The team of Jada Johnson, Annyston Crooker, Mitchell and Camilla Johnson won the 4×200-meter relay; Jada Johnson, Ritenburg, Anna McCarn and Camilla Johnson won the 4×400-meter relay; and Trinity McGlone, Smith, Savannah Costner and Koehn won the 4×800-meter relay.
Among other area athletes, Yellville-Summit’s Fay Chism won the pole vault and was third in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Kayden Jones of Dora ended up second in the 800-meter run and third in the 1600-meter run, Bailey Ervin took third place in the long jump, Dora’s Isabelle Martin finished third in the 800-meter run. Dora’s team of Kinley Luna, Martin, Haley Perkins and Chloe Barton was second in the 4×400-meter relay.
In the boys’ team standings, Dora ended up sixth, Yellville-Summit took seventh place, Salem finished tied for 11th place, and Izard County was tied for 20th place.
For the Bomber boys, Trenton Smith won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, Levi Payne won the 800-meter run and ended up second in the 3200-meter run, Ben Souder took second place in the 400-meter dash, Talan Palmer finished third in the 100-meter dash, Jake Thomas was third in the 200-meter dash, Jonah Hartman ended up third in the 800-meter run, Kohler Mathews took third place in the 1600-meter run, and Strat Rucker finished third in the 300-meter hurdles. The team of Eli Lane, Dylan Prins, Sam Rodriguez and Tyler Lukac won the 4×800-meter relay; Souder, Palmer, Rucker and Reece Lara were second in the 4×400-meter relay; and Taylon Peterson, Lara, Trae Holliday and Thomas ended up second in the 4×200-meter relay.
In addition, Dora’s Cade Nold won the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, Daniel Tomlinson of Dora took second place in the 1600-meter run, Yellville-Summit’s Eden Hardy finished third in the 3200-meter run, Caleb Steward of Yellville-Summit was third in the 110-meter hurdles, Salem’s Ferris Thweatt ended up third in the high jump, and Joshua Nold of Dora took third place in the 400-meter dash.
Mountain Home also sent a group of boys toward Greers Ferry Lake as they were among several athletes competing in the Heber Springs Panther Relays. The Bombers finished sixth on the boys’ side. Both team titles were won by Jonesboro.
In the other boys’ results, Flippin was tied for seventh place, and Norfork ended up tied for 17th place.
Individually for Mountain Home, Eli Jones won the shot put and the discus throw, and Adam Jones and Zach Daugherty took second and fourth places in the pole vault. For Flippin, Kolby Hurst won the high jump, and Braydon Sumpter won the 3200-meter run.
On the girls’ side, Flippin finished 16th, and Norfork was 20th.
