Thursday results include MHHS softball team losing 2nd straight game in Southern Warrior Classic

The Mountain Home High School softball team suffered its second consecutive loss in the Southern Warrior Classic Thursday in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Lady Bombers were doubled up by Milan, Ind., 10-5. Mountain Home falls to 6-3 on the season.

Two area teams softball teams squared off on the north side of the state line. Bakersfield ended up beating Dora by a final of 23-7.

In high school baseball, several teams began action in the Forrest L. Wood Classic. At Norfork, the host Panthers shut out Izard County 6-0, Norfork also squeaked by Salem 2-1, the Greyhounds defeated Heber Springs 6-2, and Izard County topped Heber Springs 7-2. At Flippin, the host Bobcats blanked East Poinsett County 12-0, they later lost to Highland by the same score, Highland shut out Green Forest 2-0, and EPC topped Green Forest 6-0.

Cotter was able to win its opener in the Clinch River Classic at Knoxville, Tenn. The Warriors picked up a 7-5 victory over Capital from Charleston, W. Va.

Viola ended up with an easy win after going across the state line. The Longhorns routed Couch by a score of 13-0.

Two area baseball teams began play in the Robinson Invitational. Melbourne breezed past McCrory 11-3 on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. At the Benton Athletic Complex, Harrison pounded El Dorado 11-2 and blanked Greenbrier 2-0.
