The Bakersfield R-IV School District has announced a pair of events being hosted by the student council this month.

A pickleball tournament is scheduled for Saturday as a benefit for the Frazier family, who was severely injured in the March 14 tornado. Cassidy and Drake Frazier have reportedly been unable to work due to their injuries, and their son is facing serious health challenges and is currently at Mercy Kids in Springfield.

The tournament starts at noon in the Jerry Taylor Gymnasium on the high school campus. The cost is $20 per two-person team, and the deadline to register is Wednesday. A cash prize will be given to the winners.

Later this month, the student council will host a blood drive. It’s scheduled for April 24 from 9:30 to 1:30 in the Bakersfield FEMA building.
