Yellville-Summit was among the high school track teams at the Sara Low Relays Thursday in Batesville. The Lady Panthers finished second, and their boys were fifth. Both team titles were captured by Mills.
Also in the girls’ results, Melbourne ended up fourth, and Marshall took ninth place.
Fay Chism of Yellville-Summit with high-point award
Yellville-Summit’s Fay Chism was the overall high-point winner as she won the 100-meter hurdles and the pole vault and finished second in the 300-meter hurdles. Also for the Lady Panthers, Bailey Ervin won the 400-meter dash, Hannah Hayward won the triple jump and was second in the high jump and the long jump, and Rorie Cobb ended up second in the shot put. The Lady Panthers’ team of Chism, Cobb, Ervin and Hayward took second place in the 4×200-meter relay.
Another area athlete picked up an individual victory. Melbourne’s Kallie McCarn won the 1600-meter run.
On the boys’ side, Marshall finished third, and Melbourne was seventh.
For Yellville-Summit, Ethan McCalla won the discus throw, Caleb Steward ended up second in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Eden Hardy took second place in the 1600-meter run, and Samuel Wallis finished second in the 3200-meter run.
Marshall came away with a few individual victories. Jake Massey won the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, and Tate Kelley won the triple jump.
A couple of area schools sent their track teams to Pocahontas, where Valley View swept the team titles in the Wellman Relays.
Salem was 14th on the girls’ side, and Izard County ended up tied for 15th place. The top area performance came from the Lady Greyhounds’ Montana Franks as she took third place in the 300-meter hurdles.
In the boys’ results, Salem finished tied for 15th place, and Izard County was 19th. Salem’s Ferris Thweatt led the area performers as he ended up second in the high jump.
Dora competed in the Glendale Girls’ Night Out in Springfield. The Lady Falcons finished in a three-way tie for 30th place as the win went to Blue Springs. Dora’s best performance came from Haley Perkins as she took fourth place in the javelin throw.
