A Stone County man has been arrested after he broke into a female’s home and tried to kiss her and then fought with a deputy trying to arrest him and again with jailers while being booked into the jail. Facing a total of nine counts, four of them felonies, for the incidents is 30-year-old David M. Huff of Fox.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received from the female saying the man had broken into her home and was trying to kiss her. He eventually left with deputies responding from different directions in an attempt to intercept his car.
One of the deputies made a traffic stop on Huff’s vehicle, but due to the location, his radio signal could not be received and dispatch and the other deputies did not know he was out with the suspect. Huff resisted arrest and he and the deputy spent approximately 20 minutes rolling around on the ground as the deputy tried to get handcuffs on him. During this time, Huff continually dug his fingernails into the deputy. Eventually, the deputy was able to get Huff back to his patrol car to call for back up. While the deputy was requesting back up, Huff used his cell phone to call family members who also showed up.
Two other deputies and a Mountain View Police Officer came to assist and Huff continued to resist, but was eventually taken into custody.
Once at the jail, Huff refused to comply to change into his jail uniform, kicking one of the deputies. He also refused to take a breathalyzer test.
The deputy who made the original traffic stop noted Huff smelled of intoxicants and was slurring his words and not making much sense.
A search of Huff’s vehicle revealed an open and full can of beer in the center console along with three cans of beer in a cooler in the passenger seat.
Huff is facing felony charges of residential burglary, two counts of second degree battery and breaking or entering along with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, refusing a chemical test, possession of an open container in a motor vehicle and driving a vehicle without an ignition interlock device.
Huff is being held in the Stone County Jail on a bond of $250,000.
