Costner, Miller lead Bombers with first place finishes at conference meet

Mountain Home Junior High track athletes hosted the Northeast Arkansas Junior High Conference Meet on Monday at Bomber Stadium, with several Bomber athletes delivering standout performances across multiple events.

Simeon Costner led the way for the Bombers, winning the boys’ 1600-meter run with a time of 4:41.37 and taking third in the 800-meter in 2:15.90. Brody Brown tied for the top height in the high jump at 5-10 but finished second based on attempts.

In pole vault, William Tucker also matched the winning height at 9 feet, placing second. Colt Thomas (8-0), Uriah Sabo (7-6), and Evan Koehn (6-6) added for the Bombers with top-eight finishes.

Chris Leaming secured third in the boys’ discus with a throw of 138-6, while Garret Watts placed eighth in a fast 100-meter dash heat, clocking 11.97.

On the girls’ side, MaKenna Miller claimed first place in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet. Eliana Pepin earned second in the triple jump at 32-0.5.

Samira Gassama and Brook Bertalotto placed second and third, respectively, in a tightly contested 800-meter run. Bertalotto also took second in the 1600-meter with a time of 5:55.85.

Callie Kohler added a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles at 55.44, and the girls’ 4×400-meter relay team closed out the meet with a third-place finish in 4:38.85.
