A few area high school track teams gathered at Izard County High School on Tuesday for the 2A-2 Conference Meet.
The host Lady Cougars are keeping the girls’ championship trophy in Brockwell. Mammoth Spring finished second, Marshall was third, and Cotter ended up fourth.
Among the individual results, Cotter’s Izzy Wilhite won the triple jump and the pole vault, fellow Lady Warrior Ellesandra Lee won the discus throw, Akynna Nielsen of Izard County won the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes and the high jump, fellow Lady Cougar Willa Everett won the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles, Izard County’s Breyona Fortney won the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump, Kallie Skidmore of Izard County won the 1600-meter run, Mammoth Spring’s Braelyn Washam won the 3200-meter run, and Kilye Hensley of Marshall won the 800-meter run. Izard County’s team of Fortney, Payson Speake, McKayla Ice and Olivia Spray won the 4×200-meter relay; Everett, Spray, Speake and Nielsen of Izard County won the 4×100-meter relay; and Marshall’s Campbell Horton, Kadye Hensley, Miriam Beckwith and Kilye Hensley won the 4×400-meter and 4×800-meter relays.
The boys’ team title was captured by Marshall. Izard County took second place, Cotter finished third, and Mammoth Spring was fourth.
Individual victories went to Hayden Strong of Izard County in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the 110-meter hurdles, fellow Cougar Evan Cole in the 1600-meter run, Izard County’s Hunter Duncan in the high jump, Jake Massey of Marshall in the long jump and the triple jump, fellow Bobcat Toby Campbell in the discus throw and the shot put, Marshall’s Timothy Martin in the 400-meter dash, Tate Kelley of Marshall in the 800-meter run, Marshall’s Luke Harness in the 3200-meter run and Jaydon Salas of Marshall in the 300-meter hurdles.
Marshall ended up winning all four relays on the boys’ side. Gregor Lichtblau, Kelley, Matthew Horton and Massey took the 4×800; Salas, Shay Dunham, Massey and Martin won the 4×400; Martin, Horton, Mason Gregg and Massey won the 4×200; and Martin, Gregg, Izzak Szitar and Massey won the 4×100.
