Monday results include MHHS baseball team falling to Alma

The Mountain Home High School baseball team had another rough outing in front of the home crowd of McClain Park on Monday. The Bombers suffered a 5-3 defeat to Alma. Mountain Home falls to 12-12 on the season and 2-9 in the 5A-West.

The 3A-2 District Baseball Tournament got underway at Cave City. Yellville-Summit eliminated Mountain View 12-7, and Salem shut out Bergman 15-0.

The 2A-2 District Baseball Tournament had its opening games at Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden. Izard County defeated Mammoth Spring 15-0, and Marshall was bounced by Tuckerman 11-1.

In other baseball, Viola lost to Bakersfield 17-2 in the Bats on the Border, Gainesville squeaked by Norwood 6-5, Melbourne topped Riverside 8-3, and Jasper swept its doubleheader over Deer with scores of 15-0 and 22-0.

Yellville-Summit’s softball team won its opener in the 3A-2 District Tournament at Cave City. The Lady Panthers got past Valley Springs 8-6.

The 2A-2 District Softball Tournament began at Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden. Mammoth Spring lost to the host Lady Greyhounds 14-0, and Marshall edged out Cedar Ridge 3-2.

In other softball, Bakersfield fell to Willow Springs 5-4, Gainesville lost to Norwood 13-3, Izard County lost to Melbourne 3-0, and Dora was toppled by Mountain Grove 19-9.
