Mountain Home Police Department completes move into new building

It’s been just over 13 months since the Mountain Home City Council voted to purchase a building at 650 South Street in downtown, renovate it and turn it into the new police station. The building has housed two banks, and most recently, offices for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. But now, after renovating the building to meet the needs of law enforcement, the city’s police department has moved in and is operating out of their new home.

Police Chief Eddie Griffin says the new building has many advantages.

The city sold the old police department building, which used to house the Baxter County Library years ago, to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for $1,118,000. They purchased the new building for $720,000.
