Arkansas State University Mountain Home’s (ASUMH) Dr. Tamara Daniel is poised to become the leader of the second-largest community college in Kansas after serving as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at ASUMH. The Butler Community College Board of Trustees has announced that, after a nationwide search, Dr. Daniel has been named the sixth President in the college’s nearly 100-year history.

“ASUMH has been very fortunate to have Dr. Daniel as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost,” said ASUMH Chancellor Dr. Bentley Wallace. “It is a bittersweet time for the college, but we are so excited to see the good work she will be doing in Kansas. Short and long term plans for the position at ASUMH are still in development at this time.”

Prior to her time at ASUMH, Dr. Daniel served as Vice President for Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Associate Dean of Academics and Mathematics Department Chair at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, TN. She received her Doctorate and Masters of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the community college sector, Daniel looks forward to building on Butler’s established foundation of quality education and student support. “I’m truly inspired by the incredible work that’s already being done, and I’m eager to amplify that momentum,” she said. Dr. Daniel’s first day at Butler will be June 23.
