MH City Council approves contract with NCA Economic Alliance, purchase of 8 new trucks

The Mountain Home City Council had a busy but pretty routine agenda Thursday night with seven items they dealt with, doing so in just 18 minutes.

After hearing a presentation from the group at their last meeting, the council voted to enter into a contract with the North Central Arkansas Economic Alliance for another year. The contract is for $40,000 annually, paid $10,000 each quarter.

The council had a contract with the alliance last year as well for $30,000 that covered the last three quarters of the year.

The alliance is made up of local business leaders that work to bring economic expansion and development to the Twin Lakes Area, especially in the areas of tourism, manufacturing and small business.

After moving into their new building this week, the Mountain Home Police Department has numerous items they putting up for auction. The council approved the sale of the items. They will be taken to Walker’s Auction.

The council passed two resolutions to waive competitive bidding and authorize the Water and Sewer Department to purchase five vehicles:

-A 2022 Dodge Ram 3500 flatbed truck from Lakeview Auto Sales for $46,000
-Three half-ton 2025 Dodge 1500 Tradesman 4×4 crew cab pickups from Ultimate Auto Group for $135,183

The council also passed a resolution to waive competitive bidding and authorize the Street Department to purchase three vehicles:

The Mountain Home City Council passed an ordinance changing the zoning of property located on East 13th Street from Residential R-1 and Commercial C-2 to Industrial I-1.

They also approved a resolution setting a public hearing for June 5 in Council Chambers to discuss the abandonment of a utility easement in Big Creek Estates. The hearing will begin at 4:55 prior to the council meeting that evening.
