
The city of Yellville has a new mayor following Monday evening’s city council meeting.Hunter Duren, a lifelong Yellville resident, was sworn in after being voted in by the council.Mayor Duren’s appointment was requested by the late Mayor Shawn Lane who expressed his desire that Duren succeed him. Duren, who works as the warehouse and office manager for Yelcot’s Yellville location, spent many years working under the former mayor who was also Vice President of Operations for Yelcot. Mayor Duren says he knows he has big shoes to fill but tells KTLO News he now realizes Mayor Lane was preparing him for the role even if he couldn’t see it.

Continuing his predecessors commitment to financial responsibility and working to improve the city is where Mayor Duren plans to begin in his new role.

Also during Monday’s meeting a proclamation was read that will see the road through the city’s park named in honor of Mayor Lane. Revitalizing the city park was an ongoing project for Lane who oversaw many improvements over the years including updated ball fields, walking tracks and the splash pad.
Travis Doshier who was acting mayor before Duren’s appointment says the naming of the road in his friend’s honor was his last and only act as Yellville Mayor.
