NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Alan York has been selected as Director of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission (OGC) and Chief Administrator of Energy for the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (E&E).
“I am proud to work with Alan in his new roles as Director of the Oil and Gas Commission and Chief Administrator of Energy. Alan is uniquely qualified for these roles because of his vast experience and expertise. He is dedicated to the Department of Energy and Environments goals of preventing waste, encouraging conservation of oil, natural gas, and brine resources, protecting the environment, and fostering economic and resource growth,” said Shane Khoury, E&E Secretary.
“I am honored to be to be selected as Director of the Oil and Gas Commission and Chief Administrator of Energy for E&E. I hold a deep appreciation for the purpose of the Commission, and I look forward continuing to build upon the history of solution-based regulatory work, while promoting economic growth and orderly development of the states resources,” said York.
York has served E&E and its constituent agencies since 2007. He returns to OGC after serving in a multitude of roles within E&E, specifically Director of Operations and Associate Director of the Division of Environmental Quality, Office of Water Quality (OWQ). Prior to the formation of E&E, he served OGC in a variety of legal and enforcement roles. He participated in the creation and utilization of significant oil and gas regulations that aided in the orderly and efficient development of oil and gas resources in Arkansas, namely the Fayetteville Shale play.
York holds a Juris Doctorate from the William H. Bowen UALR School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Clemson University. In his free time, York enjoys studying personal finance and spending time outdoors hiking, biking, or kayaking with his wife and children.
