Yellville-Summit girls lead area teams by finishing 4th in Class 3A State Meet

A few area high school track teams were represented in the Class 3A State Meet Tuesday at Prescott.

Yellville-Summit’s girls had the best team performance as they finished fourth. Mountain View was 12th, Valley Springs ended up in a three-way tie for 28th, Bergman took 31st place, and Melbourne finished in a three-way tie for 34th. The title was captured by Providence Academy.

Yellville-Summit had individual runners-up in three different events. Fay Chism was second in the pole vault, Bailey Ervin ended up second in the long jump, and Hannah Hayward took second place in the triple jump.

On the boys’ side, Flippin finished in a three-way tie for 17th place, and Yellville-Summit and Mountain View were part of a four-way tie for 27th. The state championship went to Ashdown.

Individually, Flippin’s Kolby Hurst ended up second in the high jump, and Caleb Steward of Yellville-Summit took second place in the 110-meter hurdles.
