A longtime Norfork School Board member has resigned, saying the current school board “suffers from incompetence,” lacks leadership and the board president “tells lies and attempts to censor those who speak unfavorably of her.” Chad McGowan, who has served eight years on the board, submitted his resignation last Friday.
In his letter to Interim Superintendent Richard Blevins, McGowan says he joined the school board to work with a group of people who shared the same goal of bettering the Norfork School District. He says even though they had different ideas and perspectives, they were able to work together.
But McGowan says in his letter, the last two years have been an “absolute disaster in regard to board business, reputation and representation of our community and school. The so-called president of this board (Stacey Ferretti) preaches transparency, all the while tells lies and attempts to censor those who speak unfavorably of her. She’s in favor of accountability as long as it’s not applied to those she favors.”
McGowan went on to say the board protects spouses and increases the pay of friends and finds ways to penalize and take money away from those they don’t like. He says the “bias and hypocrisy are overwhelming at this point, and I can no longer be associated with a group who operates in such a manner. I have never seen such division in our school driven by hypocrisy and bias. This board suffers from incompetence and a severe lack of leadership. It’s been an embarrassment and disgrace to witness what this board has become.”
McGowan said after what happened at and since the last board meeting, his decision to resign was an easy one.
KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News reached out to Ferretti about McGowan’s resignation, but she said she did not want to comment.
