Area residents went to the polls on Tuesday as a few school elections were held.

Josh Davis will be the newest member of the Norfork School Board after defeating Matt Wilbur for Position 1. Davis secured 243 votes for 74%, and Wilbur had 86 votes for 26%. Davis will succeed Shannon Moody, who did not run for reelection.

Current Calico Rock School Board Secretary Kelley Killian was able to hold off a challenge from Candace Branscum. Killian ended up with 63 votes for 64% to remain on the board, and Branscum finished with 34 votes for 35%.

While there was no school board race in the Izard County School District, its voters did approve of a millage proposal. The district will be able to receive $2.4 million dollars from the Arkansas Department of Education to build additional classrooms and a safe room at the middle and elementary school campuses. The tally concluded with 365 in favor of the measure for 72% and 144 against it for 28%.
