The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public that a registered sex offender has moved to the county after relocating from Sacramento County, California. Seventy-seven-year-old Daniel Sharpe is residing at 2764 Highway 101 North in Gamaliel.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, Sharpe has not yet been assigned a community Risk Level by Arkansas SOCNA (Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment). He was convicted in Sacramento, California on August 9, 2001 of multiple counts of rape and lewd acts with an underage child and sentenced to a term of imprisonment for 22 years. Available documentation does not provide any specifics about these crimes.

Sharpe is currently not wanted by law enforcement. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
