Athletes from the Twin Lakes Area represented their schools in the opening day of the Arkansas High School Decathlon and Heptathlon, held Wednesday at Ramay Junior High School in Fayetteville.

Mountain Home’s Zach Daugherty posted the top local finish of the day, placing 4th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.39 seconds. Teammate Gus Wilber finished 37th in the shot put (9.28 meters) and secured a 7th-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.62 seconds.

Yellville-Summit’s Eden Hardy ended day one in 49th place overall in the decathlon. He recorded marks of 13.06 in the 100-meter dash, 5.40 meters in the long jump, 8.16 meters in the shot put, 1.65 meters in the high jump, and 59.12 in the 400-meter dash.

Mountain Home’s Camilla Johnson led local girls in the heptathlon, taking 6th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.97) and 10th in the 200-meter dash (26.71). Elaina Pepin was 13th in the long jump (4.94m), and Ali Czanstzkowski finished 19th in the discus (21.28m).

Yellville-Summit’s Fay Chisn had a strong all-around day and stood 12th overall out of 70 competitors. She placed 10th in the 100-meter hurdles (16.36), 13th in the long jump (4.93m), 20th in the discus (21.28m), and ran the 200-meter dash in 27.35 seconds.

The competition concludes Thursday morning at 9 with the remaining events.
