The North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) and its contractors will be working to remove trees and cut vegetation in the co-op’s right of way in the coming weeks.
Trees in the right-of-way can lead to blinks or extended outages when their limbs grow into electric lines or when they fall into lines. In addition, trees in lines can lead to fire or accidental electrocution as well as poses an access issue for NAEC vehicles.
The Co-op maintains a 15 ft. minimum right-of-way on either side of powerlines. Maintanence of right-of-ways is required by the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
