Last week, a Facebook post alleging Baxter County has been allowing dumping of hazardous debris and fluids at the old county quarry on County Road 69 caused quite a stir. The post was written by Joey Nault, the son of quorum court member Bob Nault.
In a story on KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot last week, County Judge Kevin Litty said “I have a Quorum Court member that sits on our Quorum Court, and his son wrote the article that everybody’s seen on Facebook. He’s created me problems for eight months. That’s his wishes, but I’ve got to continue to fight through it, and I am going to do what’s right for Baxter County.”
Nault says he takes exception with the judge calling him out in public.

The social media post last week calls into question the $16,000 recently allocated by the Baxter County Quorum Court, which Nault voted against, for Aldi site development work, and burning of debris at the old quarry on County Road 69.
Nault, a former superintendent for the county, says certain materials can be burned there, but there are regulations you must abide by.

Nault gives one example of a building that he says was taken there and burned which would be against regulations.

That building was the old First Baptist Church building in downtown Mountain Home that also housed North Arkansas Community College, ASU Mountain Home and other county offices over the years.
According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, there have been zero calls made to the sheriff’s office regarding the quarry in the last 90 days. One report was filed on July 21 questioning items that were being dumped at the quarry.
