The Bell to Bell No Cell law goes into effect statewide this school year. Cotter is implementing the Yondr pouch system on campus. The pouches are lockable bags used in schools to restrict cell phone use during school hours. Students place their phones and personal electronic devices in the pouch, which is then sealed using a magnetic locking system. The pouch remains locked until the end of the school day, or until a staff member unlocks it with a special base. Jones says he anticipates a successful rollout of the new system based on glowing reviews from other school district administrators.
