Two men charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday.
The simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms is a Class Y Felony, the most serious crime classification in Arkansas not punishable by death. It can carry a life in prison sentence.
Sixty-three-year-old Billy Lunyou and 32-year-old Nikolas Kellem both pled not guilty to the charges against them. The men were both arrested when probation and parole officers went to a residence located along County Road 458 to conduct a compliance check.
Lunyou was reported to have been on probation at the time.
When officers began checking the shed where the two men had been found, they reported locating several smoking pipes used to ingest methamphetamine, a plastic bag containing a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The firearm, which is not described in the probable cause affidavit, was also reported to have been in plain sights in the shed.
Both men were taken to the Baxter County Detention Center. Lunyou remains an inmate at the jail. His bond is set at $10,000. Kellem is free on a $10,000 bond.
