Medical marijuana sales in Arkansas top $193 million through August

Arkansans have spent more than $193 million on medical marijuana purchases from state dispensaries so far in 2025, marking a year-over-year increase of more than $10 million.From Jan. 1 through Aug. 31, dispensaries sold 52,292 pounds of medical marijuana, up from the previous year, according to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

State tax revenue from medical marijuana totaled $5.38 million in July and August, bringing total 2025 tax collections to $21.57 million.

“A total of $1.5 billion has been spent on medical marijuana since the state’s first dispensary opened in May 2019,” said Scott Hardin, a department spokesperson. “With daily sales averaging about $800,000 in 2025, we are on track to surpass the 2023 sales record of $283 million.”

The Arkansas Department of Health reports 109,060 active patient cards as of this year.
