The Mountain Home Lady Bombers went toe to toe with one of Arkansas High School Volleyball’s most historic teams on Monday. Mountain Home took the trek to Brookland to take on the Bearcats. The night began with the 9th grade Lady Bombers being swept in 2 sets by the scores of 20-25 and 19-25. The JV match was much of the same as it saw Brookland take both sets 21-25.

However, the varsity match was similar to a heavyweight title bout that saw the match go the distance. Set one, as most of the seasons set 1’s, went the way of Mountain Home by the score of 25-21, Set 2 was all Mountain Home for a majority of the set. Mountain Home’s lead would be as much as 9 points as they would hold a lead for a large chunk of the set until Mountain Home took a 20-18 lead. After a Brookland timeout the Bearcats responded with a 7-1 run to punch back and win set 2. Set three would be pure domination from the Lady Bombers as they would throttle the Bearcats 25-10. With their back against the wall, Brookland would respond with a 25-20 set victory. Things looked bleak as Mountain Home trailed 7-2 in the final set. After a timeout from Head Coach Jill Daves the Lady Bombers would fight back to rally and tie the match at 9-9. Brookland would not score again and the Lady Bombers ended the final set with a 13-2 run and defeated the Bearcats 15-9. Here’s how the final point sounded with Dylan Connolly on the Bomber Sports Network.
