
Volleyball returned in full force Tuesday night as several area teams hit the court, highlighted by a statement win from Bergman Panthers and a dramatic five-set victory from Highland Lady Rebels.Bergman improved to 7-3 on the season with a 3-1 win over the Valley Springs Lady Tigers, handing their conference rivals their sixth loss of the year. Valley Springs dropped to 4-6.
The Yellville-Summit Lady Panthers continued to search for their first win of the season, falling 3-0 to the Salem Lady Greyhounds. Salem’s sweep moved the Lady Greyhounds back to .500 at 4-4 while Yellville-Summit slipped to 0-8.
Marshall Lady Bobcats edged the Izard County Lady Cougars in a five-set thriller to improve to 5-1 on the year. The Lady Cougars fell to 4-3 with the loss.
The Cotter Lady Warriors remained one of the hottest teams in the region, sweeping Cedar Ridge 25-15, 25-14, 25-21 to move to 9-0. Cotter controlled the match from start to finish with a balanced attack and strong defense, while Cedar Ridge slipped to 6-3.
Melbourne Lady Bearkatz improved to 7-1 after a 3-1 win over the Cave City Lady Cavemen. After dropping the opening set 23-25, Melbourne surged back with three straight wins of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-18 to take the match.
Highland delivered the night’s most thrilling finish, outlasting the Flippin Lady Bobcats in five sets to notch a much-needed win. Highland improved to 3-10 on the season, while Flippin fell to 5-5.
