
A woman from Izard County has been arrested for ramming her vehicle into another vehicle which then struck a female, injuring her. Thirty-eight-year-old Amanda Kay Edwards of Melbourne is facing two charges for the incident which happened last month in Fulton County.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Salem Police Department, officers were dispatched to a local car lot for a report of a woman being run over by a vehicle. When they arrived, the determined a vehicle driven by Edwards had struck a parked vehicle belonging to the victim which then struck the victim. The victim was lying on the ground in front of her vehicle when police got to the scene. The victim told officers after the initial impact, Edwards continued accelerating her vehicle, trying to push the other car into the victim. The victim told police she believed Edwards was trying to kill her.
Salem Police Chief Shad Overman tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News an ambulance was called, but the victim refused to be transported to the hospital despite her injuries.
The affidavit noted officers had seen the suspect’s vehicle driving through town erratically and at high rates of speed prior to the incident.
Edwards is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. She is free after posting $10,000 bail.
