Izard County man arrested for threatening to burn down wife’s house, assaulting father-in-law

An Izard County man has been arrested in Fulton County for threatening his wife and then assaulting his father-in-law who came to the house when he heard the yelling. Forty-six-year-old Jeffrey Norwood Mason of Horseshoe Bend is facing three charges, two of them felonies, for the incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported Mason showed up at her residence and began yelling at her. She told the deputy she was afraid Mason was going to hurt her. She said Mason threatened to burn down the house and then gained entry to the residence.

The victim’s father heard the yelling and arrived. The victim said Mason shoved her 74-year-old father, causing him to fall and cut his palm.

Mason is facing felony charges of terroristic threatening and second degree battery along with a misdemeanor charge of assault on family or household member. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender meaning he has four or more felony convictions. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
