Lady Bombers Spear Nettleton in 5 Sets

For the 3rd time in 8 days Mountain Home would compete in a match that would need all 5 sets to find a winner. Mountain Home, coming off a rough night in Marion, losing 3-0, would look to bounce back.

This looked good early on for Mountain Home as they would take the first set by the score of 25-22. Set two would see the Raiders fight back with a 25-20 victory. Set three would see Nettleton lead wire to wire winning 25-17. Mountain Home would get off the mat and claw their way to a 25-21 4th set victory. Mountain Home was cruising along in the 5th set, leading 10-3, when the hosts would fire back, tying the match at 10-10. Nettleton would ride the momentum to a 14-12 lead, facing 5 match point opportunities. The would not cash in on any of them. Mountain Home would rally back to a 17-16 lead, giving the Lady Bombers their first, and last, match point as the Lady Bombers would win the set 18-16 and the match 3-2.

Coach Jill Daves used 14 of her 17 rostered players at some point in the match. Daelyn Harper was up to her usual tricks, nearly having a triple double, finishing with 11 kills, 12 digs, and 9 assists. Aleigh Lucas would tack on 10 kills and 9 blocks. Lorelai Green would add an additional 11 kills. Annyston Crooker, would put on a gritty performance, adding 9 kills. Chloe Bohannon added 6 blocks in spot time off the bench. Mountain Home was led in assists by Cara Jackson who finished with 32 assists. Lauren Rauls was all over the place tracking down 24 digs. Maddie Simmons added 13 digs along with Violet Daugherty adding 10 digs.

Mountain Home’s junior high squads remain undefeated against 5a-east competition. Mountain Home’s 7th grade squad started the night with a 2 set sweep winning 25-17 and 25-11. The Junior High Varsity Squa
d moves to 11-3 and 8-0 in conference with a sweep of Nettleton winning the match 25-18 and 25-11.

Mountain Home will be back in The Hangar on Thursday for Teacher Appreciation Night as they will welcome Paragould to town beginning at 4:00 p.m.
