A Baxter County woman with a lengthy criminal history in four states has been arrested again for “skip scanning” items at a local store. Thirty-six-year-old Brianna Lee Reese of Mountain Home is facing two charges locally with a hold placed on her from another state.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, Reese had gone into the Mountain Home Walmart store seven times between Feb. 26 and Aug. 12 where theft occurred. The incidents primarily involved “skip scanning” items at the self checkout and leaving the store with unpaid items. The total of the unpaid items is $757.

Skip scanning is the act of intentionally failing to scan all items at a self-checkout station or point of sale, leading to the person taking merchandise without paying for it. It is a form of theft or shoplifting and can occur when shoppers pretend to scan items, scan only cheap items to get through the process faster, or switch barcodes.

The affidavit noted Reese had a prior history of theft from the same Walmart store in 2012. In June of 2023, she was also apprehended at the same Walmart and convicted of theft. As part of her release, she is trespassed from the store and is no longer allowed to enter.

For this new case, Reese is facing a felony charge of theft of property and a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass. She is free after posting $5,000 bond.

Reese’s criminal history dates back to 2009 with arrests in Arkansas, Illinois and Tennessee. She is currently on active probation with the Arkansas Department of Corrections and has an active warrant out of the State of Texas for robbery.

She also had a previous arrest in Mountain Home in 2021 for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
