Arkansas was overwhelmed from the start Saturday as No. 22 Notre Dame rolled to a 56-13 win behind record-tying quarterback CJ Carr.

The Razorbacks (2-3) gave up 42 first-half points, their most in an opening half since 2005 against No. 1 Southern California. They trailed 42-6 at the break and surrendered 643 total yards.

Quarterback Taylen Green, who entered the game among the nation’s touchdown pass leaders, was held to 207 yards on 17-of-32 passing with no scores and one interception.

Notre Dame (2-2) got four touchdown passes from Carr – matching a freshman record – four total scores from Jeremiyah Love. The Fighting Irish led by as many as 43 points before resting starters.

The loss further clouds the future of Arkansas coach Sam Pittman, now 32-34 in his sixth season, as the Razorbacks face a daunting stretch with five of their next seven opponents ranked.

Arkansas has a bye before visiting Tennessee on Oct. 11.
