Head Coach Shelby Henry’s Junior High Lady Bombers had lofty goals coming into this season and checked off one of their boxes on Thursday. The Junior High Lady Bombers had their conference season finales at Lehr Arena in West Memphis. Mountain Home would take on West Memphis West and West Memphis Wonder in a rare doubleheader for the Lady Bombers. Mountain Home would need to only win one of the two matches to secure the #1 overall seed for the upcoming 5a-east conference tournament.
The Lady Bombers would first take on West Memphis West and dominate the match sweeping the Blue Imps 2-0 by the scores of 25-5 and 25-8. They would have a brief break and then take on the West Memphis Wonder Lions in part two of the doubleheader. Mountain Home would make quick work of the Lions winning 2-0 and taking the sets 25-14 and 25-5. Maycie Carlson had 8 kills across both matches. Jocelyn Green tacked on 6 kills. The passing attack was led by Avery Carson with 13 assists and Allison Free with 9 assists. Mountain Home’s Shayn Wickersham would have an astounding 11 aces on the night.
Mountain Home improves to 14-4 on the season and wraps up conference play 10-0. Their next match will be on Monday in The Hangar against Harrison. The Junior High conference tournament will take place at Jonesboro High School on October 18th.
