Baxter County 4-H youth are marking National 4-H Week, Oct. 5-11, by showcasing leadership, learning, and community service through a variety of programs and events.
As part of the Beyond Ready initiative, 4-H programs in Baxter County help young people develop skills in public speaking, leadership, community service, financial literacy, and livestock management. Local youth participate in fairs, school programs, robotics labs, and community projects.
Amanda Rychtarik, Baxter County Extension Staff Chair and 4-H Agent, highlighted youth achievements, including Erin Coddington’s participation in the Citizen Washington Focus Tour in Washington, D.C., and Hannah Dooley’s trip to Panama for the International Ag Tech Career Exploration Tour. Rychtarik said these experiences demonstrate the opportunities 4-H provides for young people to gain confidence and leadership skills.
National 4-H Council President and CEO Jill Bramble said the program prepares youth for work and life, helping them become resilient and confident leaders. During the week, more than 200 local 4-H members, alumni, volunteers, and supporters will participate in service projects and share their stories on social media using #4HBeyondReady and #National4HWeek.
