A-State Rallies Late to Edge Texas State 31-30

Jaylen Raynor completed 20 straight passes and scored the game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds left as Arkansas State rallied for a 31-30 victory over Texas State on Saturday at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Raynor finished 27 of 35 for 248 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 92 yards and two scores. His late drive covered 71 yards in just 46 seconds, capped by his 10-yard rushing touchdown that tied the game. Clune Van Andel’s extra point gave the Red Wolves (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) the final margin.

Corey Rucker led Arkansas State receivers with 102 yards. Kenyon Clay and Hunter Summers caught touchdown passes, while Kyle Taylor paced the defense with 12 tackles. The Red Wolves totaled 398 yards of offense, including 150 on the ground.

Texas State (3-2, 0-1) took the lead with one minute to play on a short touchdown run by quarterback Brad Jackson, but the Bobcats missed the extra point. Jackson finished with two rushing touchdowns and one passing score.

Arkansas State travels to South Alabama on Oct. 14 for a matchup at Hancock-Whitney Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 and the game will broadcast live on ESPN2.
