A Baxter County man has been arrested for assaulting and threatening to kill his wife. Twenty-six-year-old Ethan Dwayne Shattuck, who lives in Baxter County but has a Calico Rock address, is facing four charges, two of them felonies, for the incident which happened last month.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the incident started when the victim and Shattuck started arguing over the way Shattuck was talking to the victim’s oldest son. She asked him to leave the residence to protect her other two children who were in the house.

The victim told deputies she went to different rooms of the house to get away from Shattuck to diffuse the situation, but he followed her and continued to yell at her. She said Shattuck followed her in the kid’s bedroom and told them their mother didn’t love them.

The victim said Shattuck finally left the house about 9:30, but returned around 4:30 the next morning. After about 30 minutes of talking, Shattuck grabbed a gun, went to the bathroom and said he was going to shoot himself. The victim went in and Shattuck said if she didn’t leave, he would shoot both of them.

Shattuck eventually agreed to leave if the victim took him to a neighbor’s house about one mile away. She did, but when they arrived, Shattuck started yelling at her again and took the vehicle keys and her phone. She opened the door to exit the vehicle, but Shattuck grabbed her by the throat and choked her until she lost consciousness.

When she came to, Shattuck was opening the driver’s side door. He told her the next body they find out there would be hers hanging from a tree. He dragged her out of the vehicle and started choking her again, but the victim was able to fight him off and get back inside the vehicle and lock the doors.

The owner of the residence came out and convinced Shattuck to give the victim the keys to the vehicle and she was able to leave, but he did not return her phone because he did not want her to call law enforcement.

Shattuck is facing felony charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening along with misdemeanor charges of third degree domestic battery and first degree interference with emergency communication. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $15,000.
