Mountain Home is celebrating one of its own. Clifton Rutledge, a 1982 graduate of Mountain Home High School, has been named this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award.
Rutledge’s career has taken him from local roots to leadership roles across the fast food industry. After earning his degree from Ouachita Baptist University, he quickly climbed the ranks, serving as COO of Whataburger, CEO of Bojangles Restaurants, COO of Jacks Family Restaurants, and CEO of Shipley Donuts. In 2023, he transitioned into a new role as Chairman of the Board for Shipley Donuts.
KTLO News spoke with Rutledge who describes what is was like moving to Mountain Home in his childhood, and his thoughts on traveling via ferry in the mid-70’s.

The Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes Mountain Home graduates who have distinguished themselves professionally or through service to their communities. Rutledge’s career and leadership make him a fitting addition to that list.
The Mountain Home Education Foundation will formally honor Rutledge at the upcoming Night of Honors, celebrating local graduates who have made a lasting impact.
