Baxter Health welcomes Dr. Joel McMasters to anesthesiology team

Baxter Health is proud to welcome Joel McMasters, MD, to its medical staff as a board-certified anesthesiologist. Dr. McMasters brings more than 25 years of clinical and military anesthesiology experience to the team, including roles in academic, hospital, and military medical settings.

Most recently, Dr. McMasters served as a staff anesthesiologist with Arkansas Health Group Anesthesia at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He has also held leadership positions as Medical Director for Premier Anesthesia at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and as an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he directed the Peri-Operative Evaluation Clinic.

A UAMS College of Medicine graduate, Dr. McMasters completed his internship at Brooke Army Medical Center and his anesthesiology residency through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, rising to Lieutenant Colonel and deploying during Operation Iraqi Freedom as Chief of Anesthesia with the 28th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq.

Outside the hospital, Dr. McMasters enjoys spending time with his family, reading, fishing, and following a variety of sports.
