Eric Payne has announced his candidacy for Baxter County Judge.
Payne, a lifelong resident of the Lone Rock area and current Justice of the Peace for District 11 covering the county’s southern portion, tells KTLO News he has long been interested in the position and was motivated to run by encouragement from constituents.

Being from a rural area in the county, road maintenance would be a big focus should he be elected as next county judge.

When asked what the main issues are that comes up with those who reach out to him, Payne says it really boils down to a couple of things.

With his filing, Payne becomes the sole challenger to incumbent County Judge Kevin Litty, while leaving Tom Canta unopposed in the upcoming District 11 race.
