The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Friday night on Interstate 40 near Earle.

Authorities say the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. near the 262-mile marker, just east of the Earle exit. Troopers responding to the scene found 18-year-old Jacob Allen Marquis of Marked Tree deceased in the right lane of traffic.

Investigators say Marquis, who worked for a nearby business, had been dispatched to repair a tire for a vehicle and arrived at the scene around 8:36 p.m. His service truck was found parked on the shoulder with its hazard lights flashing.

State Police believe an unknown vehicle struck Marquis sometime between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Anyone who was traveling through the area during that time or has information about the incident is asked to contact the ASP Troop D Headquarters at 870-970-6082.

The investigation remains ongoing.
