
As the deputies approached, Anderson closed the driver’s side door, started the vehicle and fled the scene.
As the pursuit went down County Road 551, also known as Smokey Road, Anderson was driving erratically, swerving across the centerline, driving into the ditch and slamming on his brakes. Throughout the pursuit, small plastic baggies were thrown from the vehicle.
Anderson eventually turned onto Stump Hole Access Road near Norfork Lake and became stuck in a mud pit on the dead end road. When the deputies arrived at the vehicle, Anderson had fled on foot, but he returned a short time later and was taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and 14 morphine pills. The deputies returned to the area where the plastic baggies were thrown from the vehicle and found two which contained a white crystalline substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine. Anderson admitted to throwing the bags out of the window of his vehicle.
He is facing felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest by fleeing creating a substantial risk of death of serious injury and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; along with misdemeanor charges of carless and imprudent driving, driving while license is suspended or revoked and littering. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
He had his first court date Tuesday and was bound over to circuit court with his next hearing set for Oct. 27.
ARKANSAS ARRESTS
Anderson has five previous felony arrests in Arkansas dating back to 2013 in Izard, Lonoke and Pulaski counties.
His charges include forgery, possession of a forgery device, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a drug premises, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, unauthorized possession of narcotics, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver and fleeing.
He has served time in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
