Local football roundup: Salem still unbeaten, Hollister upsets Springfield Catholic

It was another busy night across North Central Arkansas and Southern Missouri as several area teams took the field.

In Class 3A action, Salem kept its perfect season alive, rolling past Yellville-Summit 66-8. The Greyhounds move to 7-0, while the Panthers are still searching for their first win of the year.

Des Arc picked up a big win over Izard County, defeating the Cougars 69-24. Izard County drops to 1-6 on the season.

In Class 5A, Morrilton edged out Harrison in a close one, taking a 38-34 win over the Goblins. Harrison falls to 3-4.

Atkins improved to 6-1 with a 38-7 victory over Melbourne, who slides to 3-4.

Meanwhile, Mountain View came out on top against Episcopal, winning 47-30 to even their record at 3-4.

Over in Class 2A, Corning stayed unbeaten at 6-0 after taking down Marshall, 36-16. The Bobcats are now 4-3.

In another matchup of unbeatens, Mayflower remained perfect at 7-0 after handing Quitman its first loss of the year, 34-6.

Across the state line in Missouri, Ava defeated Cabool 56-7 to move back to the .500 mark at 4-4.

Forsyth took care of Fair Grove with a 58-34 win.

And the upset of the night came from Hollister, as the Tigers stunned previously undefeated Springfield Catholic 60-31, handing the Fighting Irish their first loss of the season.

Branson also grabbed a big win, topping Logan-Rogersville 35-28 to improve to 6-2.
