Arkansas will host No. 4 Texas A&M on Saturday in a rare on-campus meeting between the SEC rivals, as the Razorbacks look to end a four-game losing streak under interim head coach Bobby Petrino.
It marks the first time since 2020 the two programs will meet outside of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Aggies (6-0, 3-0 SEC) enter unbeaten and are aiming for their first 7-0 start since 1994. Arkansas (2-4, 0-2) is trying to rebound after a 56-13 loss to Notre Dame that led to the dismissal of head coach Sam Pittman.
Petrino, who led Arkansas from 2008-11, returns to the Razorbacks’ sideline for the first time since Nov. 12, 2011. He was 3-0 against Texas A&M during his first stint in Fayetteville and served as the Aggies’ offensive coordinator in 2023.
is one of the best quarterbacks in the country,” Petrino said of his former player. Reed has passed for 1,490 yards and 12 touchdowns while adding 186 yards and three scores on the ground.
The Aggies will be without leading rusher Le’Veon Moss, sidelined with an ankle injury. Sophomore Rueben Owens II, who has 327 rushing yards and a touchdown this season, will take over as the primary back.
Texas A&M brings the SEC’s top third-down defense into the matchup, having allowed just 2 conversions in 33 attempts over three league games. Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, who has totaled 1,654 passing yards, 504 rushing yards, and 17 touchdowns, will look to challenge that.
The teams share one common opponent: Notre Dame. The Aggies edged the Irish 41-40 on Sept. 13 in their only road game so far; Arkansas was blown out by the Irish two weeks later, a loss that triggered the coaching change.
Texas A&M has won 12 of the past 13 meetings against Arkansas.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 and will broadcast on ESPN.
