Maryanne Edge has announced she will seek re-election to the Baxter County Quorum Court as District 5 Justice of the Peace.

Edge is pursuing her fourth term on the court. She previously served a 10-month appointment in 2014, filling a vacancy after the previous District 5 JP moved out of the district. Edge has lived in District 5 for 22 years.

She currently serves on the Budget, Building, and Economic Development committees and has previously served on the Personnel and Building committees. Edge says she believes in transparency in local government and considers it a privilege to serve the residents of Baxter County.

Before being elected, Edge retired from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office in 2013, where she worked in the administration department as Records Management Coordinator. She also served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff from 2010 until taking office in January 2019.

Edge says her experience working within county government has given her valuable insight into the needs of county employees.

She currently works part-time for Brooks-Jeffrey Computer Services and is active in NACPAC (We Are Republicans) and the Baxter County Historical & Genealogical Society, where she is a past president and longtime journal editor. She has also compiled several books for the Historical Society and helped have the original portion of the Mountain Home Cemetery added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
