A Pleasant Grove woman has been arrested after authorities say a 14-year-old boy was nearly hit by a shot fired from a nearby property. 56-year-old Earlean Brock is facing a felony charge of terroristic threatening in the first degree and assault in the first degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
The Arkansas State Police report that the incident occurred Sept. 23, at 1258 Lindsey Hill Road. The victim told authorities his son was practicing for bow season when a bullet passed over the boy’s head. The victim said the shooter, who was his neighbor, was identified as Brock, initially admitted she was aiming at him, not the boy. The victim says Brock, a distant relative, had repeatedly threatened him and his home and expressed fear over her escalating behavior.
Brock was taken into custody, during a follow-up interview on Sept. 29, she told authorities she had fired a BB gun at her dogs and acknowledged that a shot went in the direction of the victim’s property. She denied intentionally aiming at anyone. A lever-action Daisy BB gun was recovered as evidence.
Brock is being held in the Stone County Detention Center.
