The Mountain Home High School Bomber Band claimed first place overall at the Ozark Mountain Music Festival in Reeds Spring, Missouri, on Saturday. Despite the competition moving indoors due to weather, the band’s percussion section also finished in first place, while the colorguard earned second place.
Earlier in the week, the Bomber Band received straight superior First Division Ratings at the Arkansas School Band & Orchestra Association (ASBOA) Region 6 Marching Assessment in Rogers on October 14. That rating qualified the band for state competition and marks the first step toward the prestigious Sweepstakes Award, which recognizes superior performance in marching, concert band, and sightreading in the spring.
The band will showcase their “lights out” halftime performance this Thursday, at 8:15 at Bomber Stadium. The annual marching exhibition, featuring both the junior and senior high bands, will take place Thursday, October 30, at 7:00, also at Bomber Stadium. Both events are free and open to the public.
Looking ahead, the Bomber Band will compete at the ASBOA State Class 6A Marching Contest on Wednesday, November 5. Following the draw, Mountain Home will be the final band to perform at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
