Big Creek Country Club golf professional Brad Simons got a rare opportunity to hit the course with PGA Tour star K.J. Choi during the Simmons Bank Open this week. Simons played in the Wednesday Pro-Am, an exclusive event giving local pros and amateurs the chance to play inside the ropes alongside top tour professionals.Choi, nicknamed “Tank” for his strength and determination, made history as the first South Korean to earn a PGA Tour card. His decorated career includes winning the 2011 Players Championship, multiple PGA and Asian Tour victories, and capturing the 2024 Senior Open Championship – another first for South Korea.
The Pro-Am experience is a unique one, allowing four players to team up with a Korn Ferry Tour professional in a 9×9 format.
KTLO Sports spoke with Simons, a familiar face in the Twin Lakes golf community, who says Wednesday’s round was a special moment to share the course with one of the game’s international stars and proudly represent Big Creek Country Club on a national stage.
