A Mountain Home woman has died from injuries suffered in an accident last week. Sixty-two-year-old Darlene L. Whisenhunt was initially taken to Baxter Health for treatment of her injuries and then transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) where she later died.

A passenger in the vehicle, a child who has not been identified, was also injured and taken to Baxter Health and also transferred to another medical facility.

According to the report from the Mountain Home Police Department, the accident happened when Whisenhunt attempted a turn into the parking lot of Noah’s Ark Preschool, but her vehicle traveled approximately 50 feet before driving into a concrete drainage ditch. The car overturned and came to rest on the passenger’s side. Police officers were first on the scene and were able to remove the child. Whisenhunt had to be extricated by the Mountain Home Fire Department and other emergency personnel on scene.

The report says it’s believed the accident was caused by a medical issue suffered by Whisenhunt.

The crash happened last Wednesday morning at 8:11 on Springwood Drive, just west of State Highway 201 North.
