Area basketball recap: Lead Hill boys stay unbeaten; Bergman, Bay pick up wins

In senior boys basketball action Tuesday night, Cotter fell to 1-3 after dropping a road game to a strong 3-0 Lead Hill squad. The Tigers jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter and took a 55-23 advantage into halftime before cruising to a 77-56 victory.

Coda Lemon led Lead Hill with 19 points, while Noah Royce recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Rogers added 13 points, and Dawson Lively contributed 7 points and 12 assists.

Bergman continued its solid start to the season, improving to 2-0 with a 66-49 win over Jasper, who fell to 3-1. Bay moved to 2-1 after topping Mammoth Spring (2-2) 84-52, while Ridgefield Christian (1-1) defeated Buffalo Island Central (1-1) 66-56.

Senior girls action
In senior girls play, Bay (1-0) opened its season with a 45-36 win over Mammoth Spring (2-1), handing the Lady Bears their first loss. Bergman (3-0) stayed hot with a 70-35 victory over Jasper (3-1). Viola (2-0) also remained unbeaten, taking down Maynard (2-2) 61-41.

Flippin (0-1) dropped its season opener on the road, falling to Alpena (1-3) by a score of 45-37.
