Gainesville girls capture first ever conference title

History was made Monday as the Gainesville High School girls cross country team captured the Summit Conference Championship the first conference title in the program’s history.Leading the Lady Bulldogs was sophomore Jessica Suit, who finished second overall with a time of 21:47.18, earning First Team All-Conference honors. Senior Kaitlyn Kahl followed in fourth place at 23:12.34, also securing a First Team spot, while freshman Annabell Snelson placed sixth with a time of 23:56.41, rounding out Gainesville’s trio of top finishers on the First Team.

Freshman Isabelle Workman recorded a personal best of 25:09.75, finishing 11th overall to earn All-Conference Honorable Mention. Rounding out Gainesville’s strong team performance were Rachyl McGinnis (16th, 26:38.13), Sarah Klessig (17th, 27:23.25), Nina Sponaugle (18th, 28:07.22), Sierra Jarvis (19th, 28:23.47), and Faith Avila (20th, 28:58.18).

Head coach remarks and team posts credited the win to the group’s unity and work ethic, noting the athletes’ focus on accountability and teamwork throughout the season.

With the regular season complete, Gainesville now turns its attention to the Class 2 District 2 Championships in El Dorado Springs on Saturday. The top 30 individuals and top four teams from districts will advance to the Class 2 State Championships on Nov. 8.
